Walk into any trendy coffee shop, and chances are you’ll find more laptops than lattes. Remote workers and freelancers have unofficially transformed cafés into their personal offices — one cappuccino buying them hours of Wi-Fi and table space.

For workers, it’s the perfect setup. A lively atmosphere, good coffee and the comfort of being around people make cafés an appealing alternative to lonely home offices. Many say they’re even more productive with background noise than in silence.

Café owners, however, are split. Some welcome the trend, calling it free advertising and steady business. Others quietly frown at “campers” who sit for hours while ordering just one drink.

Whether loved or loathed, café offices are now a fixture of modern work culture. With remote jobs becoming the norm, coffee shops may be the new corporate towers.
